9 Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced thin
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup plus 1 tablespoon flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
A few sprinkles of nutmeg
7 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 cup quick cooking oats
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 stick of butter, melted
Preheat oven to 350 F.
In a 9 X 13 buttered or greased pan, layer the apples evenly.
In a small bowl, mix the granulated sugar, 1 TBS of flour and cinnamon. Pour evenly over apples.
Sprinkle some nutmeg over the apples and then evenly pour on the lemon juice.
In a medium bowl, combine the oats, 1 cup of flour, brown sugar, baking powder and baking soda. Stir to combine.
Add the melted butter to the bowl and stir until the mixture is moist. Sprinkle oat mixture over apples.
Bake uncovered, 40-45 minutes or until the top is brown and slightly crunchy.
