Caramel Apples

1 package of soft caramel candies (Kraft puts these out in mass quantity over the holidays)

Toppings of your choice (crushed nuts, crushed graham crackers, chocolate, sprinkles, etc.)

5-6 Granny Smith apples

Skewer sticks

In a bain-marie, slowly and carefully melt the caramel over medium or medium-low heat. Add up to 2 T of water to help thin the caramel.

Make sure you have everything ready (like your sticks in all of your apples and your graham crackers crushed) before you start dipping. This is going to get messy!

Dip the apples into the melted caramel, spooning caramel over the apples if necessary. Allow extra caramel to drip off into the bain-marie before you decorate it. These dry quicker than you’d think – so get these suckers into sprinkles FAST!

Place the apples on parchment paper (yes, parchment paper) on a cookie sheet and pop ’em in the fridge to chill.

Here is an AWESOME caramel apple tutorial¬†with a ton of do’s and don’ts. I resort to this often!
