3 cups flour
1/3 cup sugar
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
Orange zest – roughly 1 T
1 1/2 sticks of chilled, unsalted butter cut into small pieces
3/4 cup dried cranberries
1 cup buttermilk
Preheat oven to 400 F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl sift: flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Mix in the orange peel and then add the butter. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, mix the dough until it resembles coarse meal.
Add the cranberries and then gradually add the buttermilk. Mix until well incorporated.
On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough (just a little bit!) and form it into a 1″ round.
Cut the dough into wedges and transfer to baking sheet. Don’t let your dough slices touch.
Bake until the tops are golden brown, 20-25 minutes.
