Extra virgin olive oil
1 sweet onion, diced
3 garlic cloves, chopped
1 lb. ground sirloin
1 1/2 cups warm water
1 14.5 oz. can diced tomatoes (with juices)
1 15oz. can tomato sauce
1 T Worcestershire sauce
2 bay leaves
2 tsp. oregano
2 tsp. basil
1 1/2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
S&P to taste
In a 4 quart pot, sauté the onion and garlic until softened. About 5 minutes.
Add the ground beef and cook until just browned.
Add the water, tomatoes, tomato sauce, and Worcestershire sauce and stir to combine.
Add the bay leaves, oregano, and basil and stir to combine.
Put the lid on the pot and allow the sauce to simmer, 15 minutes. Stir occasionally.
Mix in the pasta, cover the pot, and continue to gently simmer another 20 minutes or until the pasta is cooked.
Remove the bay leaves before serving.
